Salon/Spa Esthetician
Provide esthetic treatments, such as facials, waxing, and makeup application in full-service salons or day spas.

Medical Esthetician
Provide support to physicians and nurses by performing therapeutic and esthetic treatments, including:
Microdermabrasion
Laser hair removal
Age- and stress-management protocol
Pre- and post-operative care
Product research and development
Retail product sales
Client education
Work in a variety of medical settings, such as:
Medi-spas
Hospitals
Surgical centers
Dermatology offices
Medical clinics
Laser centers

Manufacturer’s Representative
Demonstrate, educate, and sell cosmetic product lines to sales managers of salons, department stores, and other businesses for cosmetic manufacturers.

Educator
Develop curricula, instruct students, and represent an educational institution to help establish, change, or repeal state laws and regulations for the esthetic industry.

Sales Manager
Demonstrate and sell products, manage sales records and inventory levels for salons, department stores, or specialty businesses.

Makeup Artist
Perform esthetic makeup application services in salons or spas, assist photographers in preparing models for photo shoots, and provide camouflage therapy services in a medical setting.

Cosmetic Buyer
Manage product inventory and procurement records for salons, department stores, or other businesses, which requires keeping up-to-date on the latest products and trends in the esthetic industry by attending trade shows, visiting with manufacturers, and conducting competitive analysis.

Esthetics Writer/Editor
Write engaging articles about the latest issues, products, technology, and trends in the esthetic industry for magazines, trade journals, and newspapers, or educational content for esthetic textbooks. Writers also develop copy for cosmetic product ads, product packaging, and TV commercials.

State Board Member
Assist in the development of state laws and regulations; grant licenses for estheticians; and inspect schools to ensure safety, sanitation, and educational requirements are met.

State Licensing Examiner
Prepare and regularly conduct inspections of salons and spas to ensure these establishments are meeting state regulations and ethical standards. Examiners also enforce the state regulations, conduct hearings, and investigate complaints.
